ASYV was founded in 2008 to help support Rwanda’s vast orphan population that resulted from the 1994 genocide. It provides a home for over 500 high school students each year. Students are given high quality schooling, informal education, and a supportive social structure. As the first science center coordinator (2011-2014), I introduced informal science education to the community, trained teachers, and built 5 labs in rural Rwanda. Below are some links to articles that were written during my time there.

Today the Science Center at ASYV hosts a top of the line fab lab and acts as an innovation center for the broader community.
